WELCOME!

Thank you for registered for this year's 2020 Counselor Update!  We are excited to "see" you for this event, and we hope that our extended Student Fair around this Update will allow your students to also gain some great resources too!  More information about the Counselor Update is outlined below.  Please let us know if you have any questions!  We look forward to having you part of this great annual event and gathering of our Montana counselors, colleges, agencies, & beyond!

  • COUNSELOR PRIZE WINNERS THIS FALL!  We will be announcing these winners at this year’s Counselor Update session!  We are excited to announce the Fall prize winners for the $1,000 Counselor Prize, $500 Fall Events High School Winner, MSCA Membership, etc.
  • What if there are tech issues during the event?   |  To try and avoid this as much as possible, please test your zoom connection before the Counselor Update.  If we happen to experience tech issues with the main connection during the event, we will just have everyone be patient, and we will all simply reconnect to the zoom session if needed.  Please do not stress or worry if this happens, as technology is notorious for these kind of surprises, and you may just easily reconnect at the same link to rejoin the session.  Crossing our fingers technology is on our side however!

  • This year's Counselor Update is run via Zoom Connection.  We will be having everyone connect in that way, so you will need to make sure your computer, laptop, Ipad, phone, etc. have zoom's free app/connection ready.  
  • To join this live gathering, you will simply visit the link below and click the Day 1 and/or Day 2 Counselor Update sessions that are listed under the "Upcoming Events Tab" at the bottom of our MPSEOC profile page.  
  • If you already attended the September Virtual Fair and logged into the virtual platform, you will just use the same login & password as you created before.  
  • If you have not signed up for the Virtual Platform yet, it is free and easy to sign up.  You will need to sign in at the link below first.  Then, select the Day 1 or Day 2 presentation to join.  You will then receive auto text/email reminders for this event.  You will also go back to this page to join the morning of the sessions.

Your MEETINg space

  • Create your own private space at work, at home, etc.  |  We will sure miss seeing all of you in person for this event this year.  We are excited to hear that many of you are teaming with your local area counselors to gather and several of you are also planning your own time away to watch this too.  We appreciate your team efforts to still make this event happen this year.  We will sure miss sharing coffee, snacks, lunch, smiles, & conversation with all of you in person, but we are hopeful to still offer this service with opportunities for chat, connection, and overall updates virtually this year.  Please let us know if we can help in any other way, make this event a success for you.  Thank you for attending, and for your commitment to help students together!
  • May we still gather in-person for this Update?   |  Yes!  This event is scheduled to broadcast across Montana virtually over Zoom through our virtual event platform under the MPSEOC profile page.  Therefore, with this virtual model this year, you are welcome to connect from anywhere!  With COVID-19 limitations, we will of course miss seeing all of you at our normal sites this year.  We hope and encourage you and your area counselors to still independently find some fun new ways to gather safely to participate in this event this year.  MPSEOC is even happy to still reimburse you for lunch for Day 1’s gathering!  We will send you a reimbursement form after the event.

 YOUR LAPTOP, IPAD, PHONE, ETC.  |  Live Questions

  • ​DURING THE COUNSELOR UPDATE - Live Questions & Chat  |  Back again!  We are excited to offer a “live” interactive online questions & chat for you to post your questions and have the institutions address them throughout this event.  If you would like to participate in this online, interactive group, please bring your own laptop, ipad, phone, etc. to access this group online throughout the event.  We will share more details on how to access this group the morning of the event!  
  • If you are gathering as a team to watch this presentation, you will still want to have your own connection/access on your own laptop, Ipad, phone, etc. to easily sign-in and post questions.  We will be asking for regular sign-ins throughout the event so that we know who is eligible for the OPI Renewal Unit Credit.  Therefore, even if you are watching this with a smaller group, you will want your own access at least on your phone throughout the event too.

​DURING THE COUNSELOR UPATE  |  We are hosting the Update through Zoom this year, so you will be able to ask your questions via chat live throughout the event.  Counselors are able to ask their questions, and the Colleges are able to then share answer live.  We will email out the final list of questions and answers after the update.  Thank you for participating!  ​​

how will I get OPI REnewal Unit Credit?

  •  We will be offering full OPI Renewal Unit Credit for your time attending these sessions.  We will be taking regular sign-ins throughout the event and also asking you to fill out a final credit form as part of the process.   
  • We will be asking for regular sign-ins throughout the event so that we know who is eligible for the OPI Renewal Unit Credit.  Therefore, even if you are watching this with a smaller group, you will want your own access at least on your phone throughout the event too.

WHERE ARE MORE DETAILS ABOUT THE VIRTUAL STUDENT FAIR?

  •  We hope you are able to help share this Student Fair Resource with your students, parents, and community.  We also encourage you to share this with your Juniors & Sophomores too!  Especially in this unique time, it never hurts to have your students start early!  With live fairs and programming being cancelled, this is the main way for your students to connect with colleges, agencies, resources, & training programs in this time of COVID-19.  More details are linked below.  Please let us know if you have any questions or need help.  Otherwise, we look forward to connecting with your students at this Fair!  Many thanks for all your team efforts!  :)
